A Roommate Gone

Figure 1: Roommates at Chili's

I'm putting myself highly at risk of sounding homosexual, but hey some guys are sensitive you know lol. But yeah, Mr. Qayyum left this morning. Being a very lame roommate I only wished him well at the front door.

A whole consequential year may not be described perfectly in words, but it was a really good year on my part. Well not my part onto him, it was more of his part onto me. And that sentence just reassures my confusion and the consequent state of being homosexual lol.

But well, coming back, Mr. Qayyum was a wonderful, helpful, understanding, hardworking, and neat roommate. Exactly the kind of roommate you'd wish to have. So thanks a lot Q man.

Sadly though, again, being a selfish bastard I didn't feel I did him likewise. What with myself so disorganized, and above all my inability to do anything at all. That is, completely my bad. InsyAllah it'll become better eh Q? Then I'll invite you over to my house next year.

But that's that. Good short post. Thanks a lot Qayyum, it was a great year indeed. On a side note, if you read this post and pretend you're gay, it really does make sense.

Yeah, so here's a post lol. I'll be away for another month heee. Goodbye readers!

Fluid Mechanics

I enjoy fluid mechanics I really do. Fluids is a pretty fun class, although a bit hard. But hey the hard things ARE usually the good ones right. Same as it is finding a partner; the harder they come by, the longer they'll stick around. No I'm serious lol, the hell you snickering at?

So a friend showed me this video on youtube. I can't explain any better how fluid mechanics is important. Well but of course people would claim we shouldn't be racing in the first place. Well, but see truthfully I can't argue with that haha. But screw you racing is a fun thing and it requires good aerodynamic engineers. Enjoy.

That's probably due to turbulence. Wait what Mr. Haoxiang? You actually read my blog? And you plan to give me extra credit? Oh wow, thanks!

Spring Days

Figure 1: Acting cool because there's a thunderous freaking dog on it's way lol.
Figure 2: No we're not items, just car mates minus one.
Figure 3: No, I just happened to be there.

Spring days, are awesome days. Pictures say it all I hope. And the song is just to add a sentimental touch lol. As if.

Doing Our Part

Hmm this feels rather odd. I've not been writing for some time, and masyAllah it feels freaking awkward. But I have two exams coming up in the week, so it's a marvelous time to blog. Yes, I blog better when I shouldn't be blogging. And I study better when I'm running out of time too, so it's a win-win thing! Yes lol, what a horrible attempt to comfort my guilt.

Moving on, the title might make you wonder;

"What part is he talking of?"

Well the answer is easy. No, it's not human organ parts you bastard cannibal. Instead, it's our part in being a good Muslim.

Recent issues show an upward trend of Islamophobia; the prejudice against Muslims. This is especially the case in the West. As Vanderbilt students are concerned, we had the opportunity to witness Islamophobia first hand on March the 17th at IMPACT; a symposium organized by the University's Programming Board.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is just one of the few aggressors of Islamophobia. In short, she's an apostate who is openly critical of Islam. Yeah I know, WTF? Why do people give a shit about someone who's not even Muslim, but talks about Islam? It just doesn't connect. It's like asking your 7 year old brother for advice on which courses to take for next semester. Ayaan is a long shot from being testimony of the ideal practicing Muslim. She has not fully understood the concepts in Islam. Some of her arguments are not even Islamic; for instance forced marriages which is purely cultural. What the freaking deuce? In fact she hasn't even gotten the 6 pillars of Eeman in tact. Given all that she still criticizes Islam. So really, W, T, F?

Apart from Ayaan, there are NUMEROUS other islamophobic acts recently taking place that it's become unbelievable. Recall Jyllands-Posten in 2005 to name a few. The assault on a Danish Muslim which costs the poor boy his life a few weeks back. The Islamophobic chants at football matches. The movie "Fitna" from Geert Wilders. The movie is the perfect instance of a frequently used technique to distort the meaning of the Holy Quran; quoting a sentence from the Quran out of context making Islam look violent and all that.

Then the question arises;

"How much do we really understand Islam to defend it? What are we doing to help protect the well being of our Deen?"

And that's where I feel we should play our part. We should take the right actions necessary as Muslims. But what are the right actions really? Wait what? You want to commit suicide bombings? NO! That's not the right way to go! It never is. Imagine all the innocent lives that fall victim of a suicide bombing. Then it makes us no worse than they are. And put things in perspective; terrorism is the very nature we aim to shed off of Islam, and committing suicide bombings reflects the exact opposite. Don't get me wrong though, I understand where the suicide bombers come from. Well in honesty "understand" is too strong a word, I can never put myself in their shoes; losing their family members, losing their homes etc. But insyAllah if every Muslim fights for the cause of Islam; Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine will one day see peace again.

Coming back to our question; what can we do to help the cause of Islam? Well I personally think that as students the best thing to do is equip our selves with a good understanding of the Deen. I know I'm not the best Muslim there is, but again the most important thing is to keep on learning. Some people might not be as knowledgeable as others, but that doesn't make us bad persons for only Allah knows what our intentions are. But at the same time we have to realize that there is a bigger picture and it requires intellects; i.e. students like us to spark a difference. So we have to keep on learning though we may not know a lot, but insyAllah if we're patient and consistent we'll get there.

So how would understanding Islam help? Well it's easy. There's the saying that goes;

"If you aim for change; first change yourselves, then change the people around you, and finally change the rest of the world."

Or something like that lol. Yeah I know, I'm a bimbo thanks very much. But yes, be the living testimony of a true Muslim and influence the people around us and that alone helps toward the greater cause of fighting Islamophobia. With knowledge we can also easily counter arguments coming from people like Wilders, Hirsi Ali and other stupid cunts. And hopefully through time, we'll be knowledgeable enough to ignite an even greater change.

But how, you ask? It's easy. There's the Holy Quran to begin with. There's Google; which thank goodness is there. You find answers to really bad engineering questions on Google too. There are also multiple Islamic websites, there are Usrah programs, there are talks from Islamic scholars, there are Islamic classes, there are books etc. So it's easy. No?

So this sounds rather odd coming from someone like me, but let's start doing our part and help the cause of Islam. We're blessed with good minds, with good education, with loving families, with trusting friends alhamdulillah, and so let's use them for a good cause.

InsyAllah. Till later, Salam.

Why I Love Arsenal

I'm blogging more and more on football these days. But anything goes.

Those who keep up with the EPL would be aware Arsenal FC is slipping away from the title. After doing so well in the early stages, it's frustrating as hell to finish the season on a down. I hope the players pick themselves up and win the remaining games while Manchester United losing all. Lol yeah.

But that's okay though, I'm still Arsenal through and through, unless they don't win any silverware this season haha. But back in the 2002/2003 season, in my humble opinion that was the best Arsenal team ever. The current team has huge potential but they've yet to live up to it. The 2002/2003 team wins games out of nothing. They attack you from any dimension and they defend equally as well. It's the kind of football people pay to watch.

So I decided to post the video of Arsenal winning the title at White Hart Lane; home of Arsenal's fiercest rival. Watch the two goals though; fucking brilliant. On the first goal, notice how all the spurs players are STILL running back to defend and Arsenal already have the ball in the net. An excellent milestone of the 2002/2003 team; they were one of the best counter attacking teams in Europe. The second goal was also brilliant; keeping good possession, spreading the ball throughout the whole pitch, being patient, and eventually playing killer passes to crave open the defense. It might seem simple, but that's the beauty of it. Stunning in it's simplicity they say; exactly how I like things.

But here goes, enjoy.

Opportunity Costs

Figure 1: Moi, LP, and pollution.

Figure 2: Chester, with clothes on.

Prof. Buckles once said in ECON 101

"Once you finish the course, I expect each and every one of you to apply economics in EVERY decision you make. Life is a lot about making good decisions and economics will do just that. I also want you to kill stupid bastards that constantly annoy you."

Well masyAllah is he right. Economics is a wonderful tool to have at your disposal. One concept that I love in particular is opportunity costs. It basically means (if I understand right) the benefits you give up by carrying on with a decision. Not just benefits in terms of money, but also of time and energy. For example, it is 19:00 and you're surfing the internet. In surfing the internet, you're giving up your time and energy for other possible activities like going to the gym, watching the tv, working on your homework, or killing stupid bastards. So the opportunity costs of surfing the internet are all the aforementioned activities. Being rational human beings, you want to choose the decision that benefits you most, i.e. minimize opportunity costs.

Moving on to how opportunity costs relate to me. Yes I'm a selfish bastard. Last Tuesday night, three things were simultaneously going on; the 5 hours Linkin Park concert, the 2 hours Vanderbilt vs. Tennessee game, and a 3 hours fluids study session for my test the very next morning. I had to choose obviously because if I think too long I won't even realize I've passed midnight and missing all three. I eventually decided to go to the concert. That might seem like a bad decision considering I have a test the next day, but I paid 60 dollars for the tickets and I think my fluids professor needs to do a better job in having prefixed dates for tests instead of informing you a fortnight before.

So we got there at 19:00 and some opening acts were going on. It didn't suck, but boring since you don't know the freaking bastards. Then some other cunts decided to perform. Again, it didn’t suck but you just don't know them and therefore you can't sing along. It went on until around 21:00 where I've started to feel I've made a really bad decision. I felt I should've sold my ticket and spend two hours for happy moments at the game then the rest of the night studying.

But at around 21:30, the Linkin Park concert started and it changed everything. It was the most energetic 2 hours of concert I've ever witnessed, it was unbelievable. So they started off with "What I've Done" when Chester still had his clothes on. But not long after he was topless and singing so powerfully and jumping around and all that. It was money well spent I thought. If I'm not a very strong guy, I would've become gay. It was all well worth it; the crowd, the performance, the experience, the company, and everything else.

So that's that, enough of me. But try using opportunity costs though, it really works. Whenever you're doing something think of all other possible activities that might be worth more of your time. If you somehow come up with a better activity, then go do it. If you don't, then you're most probably making good use of your time. And again, you don't get 25 hours a day. So use the 24 that you DO get wisely. As Allah has commanded us in Surah Al-Asr;

"By (the Token of) Time (through the Ages), Verily Man is in loss, Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy" (The Holy Quran, 103: 1 – 3)

Till then friends, Salam.

The Female Dogs of Football

A couple months ago bitches really irritate me; well then again bitches STILL irritate me. But a couple months back the kind of bitches I find irritating are sluts. This time around I'm irritated at bitches of football.

What exactly are bitches at football? They're the ones who play out of bad sportsmanship, out of pure intent of hurting the opponent, and they're usually fuck ugly. Well being ugly probably explains why they're bitches; maybe because they don't really have a lot to offer. These people are a disgrace to any kind of sport.

So earlier this morning, Arsenal was playing Birmingham. Sitting 5 points clear atop of the EPL with 13 games to play, this was serious business. Just 3 minutes into the game, Martin Taylor of Birmingham came crashing full speed into Eduardo Da Silva. Click here for the picture link, or here for the video. Very vivid so you might want to reconsider.

So imagine, both players running full speed at one another, and you plant your studs into the shin of another player? Some adjudging it as DELIBERATE? WTF? Eduardo had to be treated up to 8 minutes, and later was confirmed to have broken his leg. You can even see in the video his leg was wobbling straight after the challenge. And look at Eduardo's reaction, you can't help but feel sorry for the guy, EVEN if you're not an Arsenal fan. He was in so much pain, crying out for help whilst clutching his broken leg. Goodness. Sky TV, the official broadcaster, didn't even show replays because of the horrific nature of the leg break. You can even tell it was so bad by the reactions of fellow teammates; Hleb, Cesc and Sagna. They were shocked, so shocked. And look at Taylor, he's twice as big and he goes crashing into a guy half his size. WTF! And look at his reaction afterwards. Did he even apologize? NO! That speaks volume of the fucking bitch that he is.

So why am I mad? Well because bitches are destroying the beauty of football. Football should be played the way it should be played; out of honesty, integrity, heart, and determination. You don't go out to injure someone, nor do you go out with foul, racist, inappropriate language. Aren't those purely sad to bear with? Apart from that Eduardo might be facing a potential career ending injury. He's only 24 (which is young in football), with everything to achieve. He's already made a big name for himself with the Croatian national team. And one day you play against a sad motherfucker and you suddenly might lose all that.

Haih.

Damn it. Sorry I over reacted. But you hate to see someone intentionally hurting someone else, and you can't do justice. If I can do something I'd break his fucking leg right back. In fact I'll break his leg, and I'll strap him to a tree and start stoning him. Stupid cunt.

Haih.

At the end of the day, the result just doesn't matter anymore. Arsenal drew and I really don't care. The Arsenal players were already psychologically out of the game having to witness their own teammate and a close friend break his leg. I'm so much more bemused at the fact that there are so many fucking assholes in the game; recall Diouf on Arbeloa, Gardner on Yorke, Keane on Alf Haaland, Materazzi on Zidane, and just so many others. And as a consequence it creeps into younger players who watch the EPL. And look around, people get into fights in football matches and all that.

But goodness, I'm sorry I over reacted. That's always been a trait I need to work on. But dear god, please play football as a gentlemen. Don't play it as a bitch.
